“Milton has become an important centre for supply chain and logistics,” said Scott McCammon, President & CEO of the Milton Chamber of Commerce. “We believe it’s important that area residents know about the local employment opportunities that exist in this dynamic, growing sector.”
More than 15 companies and organizations participated in the Job Fair. The event took place immediately following World Class Supply Chain Summit 2019, Next Generation Ideas, at Granite Ridge.
The Summit, a partnership between the Milton Chamber, the Lazaridis School at Wilfrid Laurier University, and CN, has become an important industry-academia forum. Each year, more than 100 leaders come together to discuss the current state of supply chain and logistics – in Canada and throughout the world – and provide insights on how challenges can be overcome and opportunities leveraged.
“World Class Supply Chain has exceeded our expectations in every way,” said Summit Co-Chair Michael A. Haughton, Professor of Operations and Decision Sciences at Wilfrid Laurier’s Lazaridis School, and the CN Fellow in Supply Chain Management. “As we prepare for the 4th annual event, we want to build on that success, and make the Summit even more relevant and practical by integrating it with a Job Fair that makes visitors aware of the exciting prospects available to them in supply chain and logistics.”
Summit Co-Chair Keith Reardon, CN’s Senior Vice-President of Consumer Product Supply Chain Growth, agrees.
“The most exciting and gratifying element of the Summit for me has been the involvement of brilliant, enthusiastic students,” he said. “We’ve learned from each other. The Job Fair builds on the foundation we’ve established with the Summit, and presents opportunities and options for those considering a career in supply chain.”
