June 9, 2020
Print | PDFThe month of June is filled with reasons to celebrate – Father's Day, the official arrival of summer and National Indigenous Peoples Day. This year, members of the Wilfrid Laurier University community are also invited to celebrate National Blood Donor Week, taking place from June 8 to 14, and World Blood Donor Day on June 14 by making a blood donation.
During National Blood Donor Week, Canadian Blood Services recognizes and celebrates the essential role that donors play in strengthening Canada’s blood system.
Laurier is a proud participant in the Canadian Blood Services Partner for Life program. Each calendar year, the university makes a pledge of blood donations. This year, Laurier has pledged 350 units of blood. To date, the Laurier community has donated 175 units of blood. To continue making a positive impact, book an appointment at a Canadian Blood Services clinic near you.
To have your donation included in Laurier’s pledge:
It is safe to donate blood during COVID-19. Visit Canadian Blood Services’ website for details about donor health requirements, screening measures and cleaning practices.
If you are unsure if you are eligible to donate, please visit the Canadian Blood Services eligibility page or call 1-888-2-Donate to talk with a nurse.
