Print | PDFTo all Laurier students,
This is a challenging time. As the world struggles to contain an unprecedented health crisis, you have the additional burden of adjusting to dramatic change while trying to complete the academic semester.
We want to thank you for your patience and goodwill. We also want to thank you for responding to the needs of the community and not participating in unsanctioned street gatherings on St. Patrick’s Day.
We are deeply impressed and very proud that Laurier students rose to the occasion and put the health of the community above the draw of a large party. These unsanctioned street gatherings are always dangerous; the presence of the COVID-19 virus made the risk even greater, not just for you but for the most vulnerable members of our community.
By your restraint and your sense of responsibility, you have distinguished yourselves and the university. Collectively, you have shown the broader community what it means to be a Golden Hawk.
We wish you all the best in the weeks ahead as we work together to complete the Winter Term. To keep up-to-date on news and developments regarding COVID-19 and the remainder of term, please visit Laurier COVID-19 webpages. Although the university’s faculty and staff are in a work-from-home mode until April 5, you can still contact academic and other supports by email, phone and through the Laurier website.
Our best to you all. Stay well, and stay golden,
Deb MacLatchy, President and Vice-Chancellor
