Print | PDFWilfrid Laurier University scored a hat trick at this year’s Canadian Council for the Advancement of Education (CCAE) Prix d’Excellence, winning gold medallions in the Best Alumni Event, Best Annual Giving Initiative and Best New Idea: Creativity on a Shoestring categories.
Laurier's 15th Anniversary Criminology Dinner won gold for Best Alumni Event. This unique event invited past and present Criminology graduates, as well as faculty and donors, to the Lost Girl set on the Brantford campus for a night of food, fellowship and a game designed by Brantford Games Design program students.
The Making Space for Music Giving Day raised an amazing $106,166 from 252 donations. The event, which included live music student performances, engaged social media and a matching gift, won gold for Best Annual Giving Initiative.
'Our Contest Doesn’t Suck, But Our Prize Does,' a contest designed to build up the university’s database of contactable alumni, motivated a record 5,523 entrants to send in their contact information in hopes of winning a Dyson vacuum cleaner donated by an alumnus. This inexpensive and effective initiative won gold in the Best New Idea: Creativity on a Shoestring! category.
“A huge thank you to all the staff who supported these initiatives across the department, and thank you to the alumni, staff, faculty, donors and community members who participated so enthusiastically to make them an award-winning success,” says Jason Coolman, vice-president: Advancement and External Relations.
The Canadian Council for the Advancement of Education (CCAE) is a volunteer-led organization that promotes excellence in educational advancement, offering opportunities for networking, professional learning and mutual support.
The Prix d’Excellence is an annual awards program that recognizes outstanding achievements in alumni affairs, public affairs, communications, marketing, development, advancement services, stewardship and overall institutional advancement.
