Print | PDFLaurier is excited to announce that the university’s first-ever virtual open house for prospective undergraduate students is now live.
Visiting Laurier for our annual fall open house has always been an important and valuable experience for prospective students and their supporters. Even though we cannot host the in-person experience this year, virtual open house reminds us that our sense of community transcends physical spaces. We’re so pleased to be able to virtually meet with future students and to provide them with the opportunity to engage with current students, staff and faculty members.
"While we wish we could welcome visitors to campus for open house, meeting students virtually is a necessary, temporary solution to help keep our future students safe, and it’s helping us keep our Laurier community safe as well," says Anthony Vannelli, provost and vice-president: academic at Laurier. "For now, I invite future students to get to know us from the comfort of their home."
Virtual open house provides prospective students with two ways to learn about Laurier: through on-demand content and live sessions. The on-demand content features new videos about our undergraduate programs, student services and campus life, and provides students the opportunity to explore Laurier at their own pace.
During the live sessions, students will be able to connect with faculty, current students and student support staff to ask questions, talk with representatives from university departments, meet faculty and students, and even take part in a live residence room tour.
The live sessions are scheduled for Nov. 17 and 25 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. ET. Students can drop in to any sessions that interest them, and registration is only required for the following sessions:
Students can connect to the live sessions directly through meeting links on the virtual open house site. The virtual open house will be available until Nov. 30.
"While this may not be the way we hoped to experience open house, we’re grateful to share a variety of pre-recorded presentations and live engagements with future students to help them receive the important information they need to make their university decision," says Vannelli.
