Wilfrid Laurier University is proud to present our 2019 Voice Lab, a unique not-for-credit workshop for undergraduate and graduate-level singers who wish to pursue vocal studies beyond the fall and winter terms offered by most universities.

Voice Lab's concentration of studies results in significant, often accelerated vocal progress, and a well-learned body of repertoire, some of which is performed in concert during the workshop. The workshop focuses on the creative process of the singer, with ample one-on-one lesson time with both voice pedagogues and collaborative pianists, group lessons, body work and much more.

Location: Faculty of Music, Wilfrid Laurier University
Fee: $1,250 (full program), $950 (with reduced lessons/coaching)

Full Program Details

  • three weeks of concentrated study with emphasis on voice technique and repertoire
  • several hours per week of individual instruction consisting of:
    • two 45 min lessons per week, one with each of the designated voice pedagogues
    • one hour per week with each coach-accompanist
    • weekly performance in masterclass
  • ensemble work will also receive some emphasis within this framework
  • Yoga for singers once per week
  • Body Mapping (three 1.5 hour sessions)
  • Seminars, group technique and other sessions of interest

Reduced Program Details

Withdrawal and Refund Policy

  • notice of withdrawal must be made to Renee Ellis by e-mail reellis@wlu.ca
  • a full tuition refund, less a $50 registration fee, will be issued when notice of withdrawal is received prior to the start of workshop
  • after the start of the workshop, refunds will be handled on a case by case basis

Please note that no refund of any sort will be given if the university is closed for any reason during your course.

Scholarship Assistance

Scholarship assistance is available (upon request) to students with financial need on a case-by-case basis and will be determined and allocated once all students have enrolled.  

Wilfrid Laurier University reserves the right to cancel a course in which there is insufficient enrolment. In the event of a cancellation, students will be informed and all fees will be refunded.
