1.00 Non-faculty employees may on occasion teach part-time in an academic department of the university. When non-faculty employees undertake to teach part-time, the following rules shall apply:
1.01 Teaching, and all activities related to teaching, will take place outside normal working hours and must not affect the performance of the employee's regular duties.
1.02 Teaching will be limited to two credit courses in any twelve-month period. A one credit (1.0) course is normally taught during two consecutive academic terms.
1.03 The employee's immediate supervisor must be informed.
1.04 Exceptions to 1.01, 1.02 and 1.03 must be approved by the employee's immediate supervisor before any commitment is made. In academic units, approval of the dean is also required. For information, the appropriate vice-president shall be routinely informed of any exceptions.
1.05 Non-faculty employees teaching part-time will be governed by the collective agreement for part-time contract teaching faculty with respect to their part-time teaching duties.
