Print | PDFFlute Boost! is a dynamic intensive for flute students age 12-20 who are looking to take their playing to the next level, in an energetic and supportive setting.
Young flutists experience an inspiring week of classes, recitals, and ensembles with outstanding faculty and special guest artists. This intensive is available to students entering grades 7-12 in the fall and incoming university freshmen.
Hosted by Dr. Laurel Swinden, Flute Boost! builds on each individual participants' previous musical experiences, and presents them with new challenges and goals.
We also welcome guest artist, Dr. Brielle Frost, Assistant Professor of Flute, Lamar University, Texas, USA
No audition required.
Students participate in daily classes including warmup and technique sessions, tone development, and chamber music.
We foster a collaborative learning environment, emphasizing solid fundamentals, musicianship, and creativity. Each student receives a private lesson, daily group instruction, and coaching in small chamber ensembles.
The week culminates with students performing in a final chamber music recital.
Daily activities include Group Warmups, chamber ensemble rehearsals, interctive daily flute topic classes, and individual practice time.
Guest clinicians include Alheli Pimienta and Samadhi Méndez.
Students will also receive a lesson with the artist faculty and have the opportunity to work with collaborative pianist, Stephanie Mara.
