Rebekah Jordan-Miller, Director
The Beckett School was founded in 1980 by Laurier Faculty of Music piano instructors Garth and Marjorie Beckett. Their vision was to create a space where students in all the arts – music, visual arts, drama – could flourish.
In the year 2000, under the direction of Bill Lebron, the Beckett School was gifted to Laurier’s Faculty of Music, moving from Music Plus at 5 Michael Street in Kitchener, to Laurier’s Waterloo campus. In 2015, the school was renamed the Beckett School at Laurier. Then, in 2023, it became the Laurier Academy of Music and Arts. The Becketts' vision continues through the school’s work to foster excellence and a love for the arts in students of all ages.
We are located at 190 Lester Street, Waterloo on the Wilfrid Laurier University campus. Our facility offers inspiring instructional space, a beautiful early childhood music area and a recital room for our frequent performances. A secondary location is located near Pioneer Park at 68 Biehn Drive, Kitchener.
