After filling out the form, we will be in touch. Registration is completed online via a secure portal. We will send this information to you when you are ready to register.

Instructor Biographies and Rates
Note: Music books are not included in the instructor rates.
Starting July 1, 2023, all payments will be made and processed through the secure platform Stripe, a WLU-approved software solution for payment processing. Acceptable payment methods include credit card and pre-authorized debit, which you can set up after receiving your first invoice.
Returning students may sign up for lessons for Sept. - June of the following academic year during pre-registration. Pre-registration happens in May of each year and will be communicated via e-mail and by your teacher. For example, pre-registration for Sept. 2023 will begin in May 2023.
New and returning students who sign up at the beginning of the school year will be automatically opted-in to 32 or 36 lessons (dependent on instructor offerings), which will run from the beginning of September to the end of June. Please note: Laurier Academy of Music and Arts will no longer have four (4) terms of nine (9) lessons.
Families may choose to pay for the entire year upfront, or on a monthly basis. Invoices will be sent by e-mail on the 1st of each month for the following month of lessons. For example, Sept. lessons will be billed Aug. 1, Oct. lessons will be billed Sept. 1. Payments are due on the 15th of each month.
If you choose to pay monthly, invoice amounts will reflect the total cost of 36 (or 32) lessons for the year, divided by ten equal payments. For example, $31 per lesson at 36 lessons for the year = $1116. The monthly invoice amount would be $111.60. Fees will be pro-rated for students joining mid-year.
Lessons may be offered in the summer, dependent on teacher availability. Payment for summer lessons are to be made in June.
Physical payments such as cheque are possible, but not encouraged. There will be a $35 charge for non-sufficient funds or returned cheques. No refunds are available once the payment for the month has been made.
Please contact the school directly with any questions.
Four weeks notice must be given to discontinue lessons. Refunds will not be provided once payment is made. For example, if lessons are being taken in January, and February lessons have been billed and paid, a refund cannot be provided for either month. Following monthly automatic invoices will be halted. This means that lessons can be officially discontinued at the end of February. Families who pay for the entire year upfront should give four weeks notice before discontinuing lessons.
There are no refunds for group classes once payment has been made.
Trial lessons can be booked with available teachers. All trial lesson rates are the same as the teacher rates.
In conformance with the guidelines of the Ontario Registered Music Teachers' Association, there will be no adjustment for missed lessons at any time. Lessons missed by the teacher will be rescheduled at a mutually convenient time.
"A child is excused from attendance at school if he/she is absent from school for the purpose of receiving instruction in music and the period of absence does not exceed one-half day in any week."
– The School Administration Act, Section 6, Subsection 2
Students studying with the Royal Conservatory of Music or Conservatory Canada may be eligible to earn credits toward their Ontario Secondary School Diploma. Ask your instructor for details.
The Laurier Academy of Music and Arts will be closed in the event of severe weather when normal operation would pose a significant danger to faculty, staff and students. Wilfrid Laurier University which includes the Laurier Academy of Music and Arts may close for the morning, afternoon, evening or for the entire day. In each case the closure announcement and reopening time will be communicated to you by your teacher. Lessons missed due to school closure will be rescheduled at a mutually convenient time, or they may be held virtually.
