I received my PhD in Psychology Physical Activity from Queen’s University in 2006 after completing my MA there in 2002.
I joined the Department of Kinesiology and Physical Education at Wilfrid Laurier University in 2006.
My academic areas of interest include health promotion and the psychology of sport and physical activity. My research applies a social ecological lens to understand individual, environment (social and physical), and policy influences on physical activity across a variety of settings, in particular school-based physical activity.
I am also interested in how the built environment (e.g., parks) impacts physical activity behaviour.
I am willing to supervise graduate and undergraduate students interested in the broad area of physical activity promotion in both youth and adult populations.
Specific research interests of mine focus on school-based physical activity policies and promotion, the impact of the built environment on physical activity behaviour, and the motivation behind participation in various (and novel or understudied) forms of physical activity.
