Nancy Freymond is an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Social Work of Wilfrid Laurier University, Ontario, Canada.
She is interested in collaborative forms of child welfare research and critical pedagogy that honour lived experiences. By cultivating active relationships with service users, service providers and students she encourages a learning environment that extends beyond traditional classroom boundaries, awakens learners to the critical engagement of power and challenges Eurocentric perspectives of helping.
Her research, funded by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council, explores the values, experiences and adaptations of young people placed in out-of-home care.
