Mitali De is a Professor in the School of Business and Economics at Wilfrid Laurier University and also an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Systems Design Engineering, University of Waterloo. She previously served as Associate Dean of Business: Academic Programs and is the winner of Indo Canada Chamber of Commerce Professional Female of the Year Award, 2006.
De holds a PhD and a MASc from the Department of Systems Design Engineering, University of Waterloo, a MSc from Indian Institute of Technology, Madras, India and is an Associate of the Institute of Canadian Bankers.
De serves on various university committees and is responsible for the development and maintenance of academic programs that reflect the missions and goals of the School of Business. In particular, the School of Business received Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business accreditation and introduced the PhD in Management during her tenure as Associate Dean of Business: Academic Programs. As a consultant in the private sector, she has worked in the area of environmental management systems and ISO 14000. She was recently selected to be the Canadian Resource Faculty by the Canadian Consortium of Management Schools to head an international workshop on Environmental Management supported by the Canadian International Development Agency.
Her research interests include optimization, decision support systems and environmental management systems. De has received numerous Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council grants and published in leading academic journals and presented her work in national and international conferences.
