The Laurier-Brantford International Film Series

A joint initiative with Wilfrid Laurier University and the City of Brantford.

~ Fall 2024 Series ~

The International Film Series is FREE to attend. All are welcome! Tickets are available through Eventbrite. Walk-ins are welcome too, with limited seating. Refreshments provided!

The International Film Series aims to provide an opportunity to share, reflect and celebrate different cultures, languages and cinematic art. Before each screening, we have also invited speakers to come and share insights and perspectives on the film. We hope this will help to spark additional understanding and appreciation for the film and its culture.

Films run on Thursdays. Doors at 6:30 pm, film at 7 p.m.

Taafé Fanga / Skirt Power (Mali)

Directed by Adama Drabo, with an introduction by Robert Ame, Laurier Professor in Human Rights and Criminology.

The Banshees of Inisherin (Ireland)

Directed, written, and co-produced by Martin McDonagh, with an introduction by Kathryn Carter, Laurier Professor in the Faculty of Liberal Arts. 

The Diving Bell the Butterfly (France)

Directed by Julian Schnabel, with an introduction by Dominique Scheffel-Dunand, Associate Professor and Co-Lead of Camerise FSL Hub at York University.
