The Pieces for Peace vision was inspired by Imam Tarek with the Muslim Association, as an opportunity to host community conversations to share and promote cross-cultural learning and understanding.
The first Pieces for Peace event was hosted in November, 2023 with the perspective of welcoming New Canadians. This first event targeted local service providers and was an opportunity to open dialogue and foster a deeper understanding of different newcomer perspectives. Speakers shared their experiences as both newcomers themselves and professionals who support newcomers in Brantford.
Pieces for Peace is a collaborate effort supported by the City of Brantford and the Laurier Hub for Community Solutions, Brantford Immigration Partnership, and other community partners.
This project supports the goals of the City of Brantford’s Inclusive Community Plan 2023 – 2026 by providing opportunities for residents from diverse background to connect around each other’s stories and perspectives.
