Dec. 10, 2021
Print | PDFThe Region of Waterloo’s Medical Officer of Health held a media briefing Dec. 10 to provide an overview of the COVID-19 virus in the area. As a result of increasing cases, locally and provincially, Dr. Hsiu-Li Wang recommended that workplaces cancel or minimize the size of their in-person holiday parties or gatherings, and to act now to increase vaccinations and reduce non-essential social contacts. We continue to monitor the situation closely and will follow public health guidance while keeping the safety of our students, staff and faculty as our top priority.
There will be no disruption to the end of this academic term. Exams will continue at both the Waterloo and Brantford campuses and the university remains open until the holiday closure on December 23rd. Our existing health and safety protocols and vaccination mandate remain in place.
Members of the Wilfrid Laurier University community should cancel or postpone any non-essential in-person meetings and events.
We will continue to monitor the situation. Unless we receive further direction from public health or the province, our plan continues to be a return to in-person/normal instruction for winter 2022. With our vaccine mandate and other public health measures in place, including masking, we can continue to work together to reduce the spread of COVID-19 and its variants in our community.
