Print | PDFThanks to the generosity of Wilfrid Laurier University faculty and staff members, the university’s annual United Way campaign raised more than $75,000 in support of Brant United Way and United Way Waterloo Region Communities.
The collective generosity of nearly 200 faculty, contract teaching faculty and staff during the month-long campaign in October is a powerful example of Laurier’s commitment to its communities.
Funds raised will help Brant United Way and United Way Waterloo Region Communities provide basic needs including food and shelter, mental health supports, and programs to mitigate isolation. United Way funds much-needed community organizations and programs, including the Sexual Assault Centre of Waterloo Region, Compass Refugee Centre, the Family Counselling Centre of Brant, and Brant Food for Thought, among others.
“This year, support for United Way was needed more than ever as the pandemic, inflation and global unrest have brought pressing community issues into focus,” says Pam Cant, Laurier’s chief human resources and equity officer and United Way campaign committee co-chair. “Once again, the Laurier community has come together in support of the United Way campaign. We are so grateful for the support shown by our employees. Thank you for caring for those in need in our communities.”
For the second year in a row, the Office of Research Services will receive the Purple and Gold United Way Cup as the employee team with the greatest participation in the campaign. A second Purple and Gold United Way Cup, introduced as part of this year’s campaign, is awarded to the Lazaridis School of Business and Economics for raising the highest dollar amount among employee teams.
Laurier’s United Way campaign committee extends its sincere gratitude and thanks to all donors who supported the 2022 campaign
