Print | PDFSummer is right around the corner, making now the perfect time to consider summer camps for kids. Wilfrid Laurier University’s Athletics and Recreation department offers engaging summer camp opportunities designed to develop leadership and teamwork skills through fun, interactive activities for children and teens.
The day camps listed below are being offered in person this summer at Laurier’s Waterloo campus. Registration opens Feb. 1, 2022 at laurierathletics.com/shop. Camps will not run Monday, Aug. 1 due to the university being closed for the civic holiday.
Weekly sessions from July 4 to Aug. 26, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily
Golden Hawk Multi-Sport Camp is for children aged 5 to 12 and held at University Stadium. Camps include themed weeks such as Harry Potter and Disney, special guests, dress-up days and swimming, as well as a camper T-shirt.
Weekly sessions from July 4 to Aug. 26, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily
The Golden Hawk LIT Camp offers youth aged 13 to 16 a unique camp experience as they learn leadership fundamentals and teamwork skills through fun, interactive activities.

Junior Lifeguarding and Swim Camp is designed for swimmers to develop and improve their swimming skills, including endurance and stroke technique, while also learning about lifesaving skills and knowledge. Campers will participate in a variety of in-pool and dry-land activities that relate to lifesaving while having fun! This camp is designed for children aged 7 to 12 who can swim a minimum of 25 meters and tread water for two minutes.
Weekly sessions Aug. 8 to 12 and Aug. 22 to 26, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily
Boys Basketball Camp is for children aged 8 to 14 and run by Laurier’s men’s basketball team. Youth of all skill levels and playing abilities are encouraged to sign up and will have the opportunity to play and train with Laurier’s varsity athletes. The camp is held in the Athletic Complex.
Weekly session Aug. 15 to 19, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily
Girls Basketball Camp is for children aged 8 to 15 and run by Laurier’s women’s basketball team. Youth of all skill levels and playing abilities are encouraged to sign up and will have the opportunity to play and train with Laurier’s varsity athletes. The camp is held at the Athletic Complex.
