June 20, 2022
Print | PDFDear full-time faculty, contract teaching faculty, staff and students:
Effective July 1, masks will no longer be mandatory for students, faculty, staff and visitors at Wilfrid Laurier University. The university’s current face covering requirement will be lifted at all of our campuses and locations, subject to any changes in public health conditions.
While face masks will no longer be required, some members of our community will choose to continue to wear masks after July 1. I ask everyone to respect each other’s decisions, recognizing differences in comfort levels and health needs.
Although proof of vaccination was paused on May 1 and our face covering requirement will be lifted July 1, the university will continue to monitor the situation and bring back these and any other necessary measures on short notice, depending on public health conditions.
Starting June 21, Laurier-hosted events at external, off-campus venues can abide by the masking and other requirements of the external venue.
As we plan for an in-person course delivery this fall, members of the Laurier community are encouraged to remain up to date with their COVID-19 vaccinations, including third and fourth doses, to ensure your work or study is not disrupted should vaccination requirements change in the future.
Laurier community members are also reminded to continue to self-monitor and refrain from attending campuses and locations when ill.
I want to thank everyone for your part in our collective effort to keep our community safe from the spread of COVID-19. Please continue to visit the COVID-19 recovery hub for the most up-to-date information.
Sincerely,
Deborah MacLatchy, PhD
President and Vice-Chancellor
