I am currently a full-time professor in the Faculty of Education. I hold a PhD in Education Studies from the University of New Brunswick, a Master of Education degree from OISE/University of Toronto in Curriculum, Teaching and Learning in Second Language Education, a BEd from Nipissing University and a BA from Laurentian University.
I have been a classroom teacher (Ontario College of Teachers 1998) and vice-principal. I have taught in the pre-service programs at several universities across Canada as well as graduate level courses as a visiting professor for the University of Ottawa. I am the co-author of the text Social Studies: Innovative Approaches for Teachers (2010).
My research interests include teacher education and more specifically French as a second language in initial teacher education programs. My current research focuses on increasing the number of FSL teachers in Ontario through a partnership with the Ontario Public School Boards’ Association.
I received a Recognition Award from The Canadian Society for the Study of Education/La Société canadienne pour l'étude de l'éducation: Canadian Association for Teacher Education (CATE) for my doctoral dissertation entitled Pre-service Teachers' Understanding of Citizenship.
