I hold an Associate of the Royal Conservatory (ARCT) diploma, as well as a Bachelor of Music (BMus) from Laurier and a Master of Arts (MA) in Musicology from Western University.
I have a strong passion for teaching, which I have been engaged in since 1980. Annually, I teach between 35 and 50 students, from age four to adult, from beginner to advanced. Traditionally I organize two recital events each year, one in December, and one in June. I also encourage students to participate in our non-competitive Beckettfest or the local Kiwanis music festival if they are motivated by competition.
I am the piano facility coordinator for Laurier, since 2012, and teach group piano lessons to music students.
Besides teaching, I enjoy accompanying and collaborating with string players and play for the South-Western Ontario Suzuki Institute held at Laurier each summer, and the Suzuki Talent Education Waterloo, as well as other freelance work for string teachers.
I really enjoy the special one-on-one teaching relationship that is quite unique in this day and age. Many students have studied with me from childhood to high school graduation and several have continued with music studies at the university level. Whatever a student's ability, I love the challenge of helping them be the best they can be.
