I hold an Honours Bachelor of Music Therapy and a Bachelor of Psychology from Wilfrid Laurier University. My training and practice as a music therapist working with children diagnosed with Autism, ADHD, and developmental delay has enriched my understanding and capacity to teach children of all abilities. I have 15 years of experience as performer and teacher, including 8 years of teaching piano within the French Public School system. I’m bilingual and teach fluently within both English and French pedagogical frameworks. As a musician, my most significant mentors have been Canadian pianists and composers Boyd McDonald and Joanne Bender. In my piano studio, I encourage students to explore and perform new music, as well as pursue composition and improvisation.
I’m a meditation practitioner and study Buddhist psychology and philosophy with teacher Drubgyur Tenzin Rinpoche. Buddhist practices have enriched my pedagogical approach and ability to support each student as they realize their musical potential. I also study Amerta Movement with core meditation teachers Mala Sikka and Terry Hagan from the Dharma Center of Canada, and am currently exploring the significance of body awareness and breath in the practice of piano technique, emotional expression, and performance.
