I have an honours degree in Music Education from the University of Western Ontario and a Master of Music Therapy from Wilfrid Laurier University. I taught voice and piano at various music schools, Yamaha music education for young children, and voice technique classes at Conestoga College. I have experience performing in stage and film productions, and I performed in a jazz trio at music venues and private clubs in Toronto.
I am an accredited music therapist and a registered psychotherapist (College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario). Currently I supervise graduate and undergraduate Music Therapy students at Wilfrid Laurier University and have taught Music Therapy courses. As a clinician I have worked with children and adults with developmental delays (KidsAbility, school settings, PTDC, group homes), at an in-patient unit in child and adolescent mental health, with adults experiencing hearing and vision loss (DeafBlind Ontario), and with elderly clients diagnosed with dementia or Alzheimer’s.
As a music educator and music therapist it is a great privilege to work with children, adolescents, and adults of all abilities, and to connect individuals to their musical potential. My music therapy education taught me that there are numerous ways of teaching, playing, listening to, and collaborating in music. It is a delight to observe and share in musical processes with students and clients.
