Print | PDFWe are excited that our Chamber Music and Performing Arts Camp will be offered again this summer. This camp is dedicated entirely to group music-making! There are no age restrictions for participants, but they must be able to play repertoire at RCM level 3. Ask your teacher if you are unsure. Participants will be placed in instrumental duos, trios, quartets, and quintets and assigned repertoire based on their instrument and level.
Our camp will once again be held in the newly-renovated Savvas Chamberlain Building at Wilfrid Laurier University, with the final performance in the Mezzanine on Friday, August 1 at 2 p.m.
There is a half day (9 a.m. - noon) or full day (9 a.m. - 3 p.m.) option. Each participant will have the opportunity to sign up for private lessons between 3 and 4 p.m. with one of the instructors involved in the chamber camp.
Participants who select the half-day option will learn one work for a trio or quartet and one work for a larger string or piano ensemble.
Participants who select the full-day option will learn one additional chamber work and receive an Alexander Technique coaching (an educational process that explores our activities - like music-making! - through movement, sensing and thinking so that we can do what we wish to do with gentleness and ease) from our Alexander Technique practitioner, Dan Cabena. Full-day participants will participate in our Chinese Instrument Ensemble, learning from our erhu specialist, Li Zhang.
