In the Child Language and Math Lab at Wilfrid Laurier University, we focus on questions of language and mathematical development. For instance, how does a child learn to talk? How does language facilitate math learning? These are very intriguing questions, and children surely know a great deal about language before they actually talk to us.
By observing how our young children listen and respond to language and math stimuli, they can tell us what they really know about language and mathematics.
We are looking for children 8-36 months of age and their parents to volunteer in our studies.
How long does it take? The study involves bringing your child to the lab for a one-time visit that takes approximately 20-30 minutes and can be scheduled at your convenience (including weekends). Other studies can also be conducted at your home.
What are the studies like? Children from 8-36 months of age come into our laboratory and are asked to watch two TV “shows.” We will simply observe which of the TV shows they prefer. You remain with your child at all times.
We invite you to contact us by emailing Dr. Joanne Lee at jlee@wlu.ca if you are interested in participating in our exciting research.
