Third-Party Sponsorship
If you are being sponsored by a First Nations band or Indigenous organization, you will be going through the Third-Party Sponsorship process.
As an applicant to Laurier, please reach out to the Indigenous Student Recruitment and Access Coordinator if you have any questions about this process.
Once you have accepted your offer to Laurier, please connect with your campus Indigenous Student Support Coordinator.
Laurier's Indigenous Admission Policy
Indigenous applicants are able to apply for admission under Laurier’s Indigenous Admissions Policy. Eligible applicants will be given consideration for admission to Laurier programs if they fall within 5% of the established cut-off during each phase of the admissions cycle to a minimum of 70%. If you are eligible for this policy, the Indigenous Recruitment and Access Coordinator will reach out to you. Six Nations Polytechnic
Successful completion of the community-based, University Consortium 1 Year program at Six Nations Polytechnic provides the foundation for students to be eligible for admission into the second year of Laurier's general Bachelor of Arts degree programs (Waterloo or Brantford campus).
Our partnership offers students the opportunity to complete the first year of a Bachelor of Arts degree within the Six Nations community. Courses taken during the Consortium program at Six Nations Polytechnic are eligible for transfer credits towards a Laurier degree.
To take part in this partnership, you must have a minimum average of 60% to qualify for transfer to Laurier. If you are interested in programs not listed below, please email indigenousaccess@wlu.ca to discuss timelines and eligibility.
Jay Treaty
Wilfrid Laurier University honours the Jay Treaty 1794 by offering domestic tuition rates to Enrolled Tribal Members of a federally recognized American Indian Tribe from the continental United States. To qualify, students will complete the required verification of Indigenous identity as outlined by the Office of Indigenous Initiatives. Eligible students must be in a degree-seeking program. Domestic tuition rate will be applied as of the term of confirmation and will not be applied retroactively. Eligible students will retain domestic tuition rates for the duration of their studies at Laurier.

As long as you self-identify as an Indigenous student on your OUAC application, you will be considered for admission through the Indigenous admissions policy. You will be contacted by our Indigenous Student Recruitment and Access Coordinator if you qualify. If you are concerned about the status of your application, please don’t hesitate to email indigenousaccess@wlu.ca.
The staff at the Indigenous Student Centre can provide tips and general resources for finding student housing, but it is ultimately the decision of each individual student to find housing that is best for them.
No. You are not required to provide proof of status to access the supports and services through the Indigenous Student Centres at Laurier.To stay informed about programs and supports at the Indigenous Student Centres, we recommend completing the voluntary self-identification process on LORIS.
Laurier does not provide pre-assessments when applying to Laurier. Once you are accepted to Laurier, your admission letter will outline the transfer credits you will recieve. Transfer credits are assessed on a case-by-case basis. We recommend keeping all your syllabi from previous courses as supporting documentation. Yes we do! You can see a list of programs available online on our Laurier Online website. As an online student, you have access to the same supports and programming through the Indigenous Student Centre.
