PhD in Management, Marketing
The faculty expertise in Laurier’s marketing area is diverse both in terms of specialization and methodology. Transitioning from the industry to academia, I wanted to gain exposure across several of marketing’s core domains before choosing to focus on a specific area. I initially joined Laurier’s MSc program, and eventually transitioned to the Ph.D. I found that students are made welcome and get to enjoy a close working relationship with faculty members. The school has a collegial atmosphere and a highly supportive environment for learning and development. Even outside the marketing area, students benefit from skill development training programs such as teaching, writing, career planning, and well-being. All these factors made Laurier the right place for me to pursue my doctoral studies.
My primary research interest is in the area of services marketing. I am particularly interested in customer management concepts such as experience, engagement, effort, and success. Other areas of interest include word of mouth, complaint management, service failure, and subscription marketing. Of particular importance to me is studying real-world marketing issues with managerial relevance. I plan to use mixed-method research that blends both quantitative and qualitative techniques.
Having spent nearly a decade in start-ups and management consulting, I also have an affinity for entrepreneurship-related research. Specifically, I am fascinated by marketing practices in small businesses
My career plans are to join a respected university in a tenure-track position and contribute to the fields of marketing and entrepreneurship through research, teaching, and writing.
