You are given preference if you have completed or are completing a four-year degree with a minimum of 20 full credits. If you present a three-year degree, you’ll still be considered for admission into your program of choice. If you present a college/applied degree, you will be assessed on a case-by-case basis. Mature students must meet the same requirements as all other candidates.

In addition to your admission average, you must complete program-specific requirements.
There are no additional program-specific requirements.
You must successfully complete a French-language proficiency assessment administered at Laurier. The assessment is typically held in January.
In addition, you must provide evidence of French-language proficiency through one of the following options:
You need a minimum of one teachable subject to be eligible for the Junior/Intermediate program. You may apply to a maximum of two teachable subjects. You will only receive an offer to one teachable subject. If you apply to more than one teachable (Junior/Intermediate), you will only receive an admission decision on one of your teachable choices. You are asked to rank them in your order of preference.
You must submit evidence of your English proficiency if you have not studied for a minimum of four years in an English-language institution (including your most recent degree). You must submit a minimum score on an accepted English language test. There are some circumstances in which you may be exempted from submitting a test score.
You must submit a minimum test score (taken within the last two years) on one of the following English language tests. Your official test scores must be received by Laurier by the required documents deadline. Photocopies are not accepted.
Students who are admitted to the program and show an inadequate command of spoken or written English may be required to withdraw from the program.
You may meet our English proficiency if you meet one of the following criteria:
You will be required to submit an official copy of the relevant supporting documentation to Laurier by the required documents deadline.
Applicants to the Junior/Intermediate French teachable or the Primary/Junior French as a Second Language (FSL) focus must complete a mandatory French proficiency assessment as part of the admissions process. The assessment is typically conducted in January.
At least 3.0 full credits in English are required, including at least two 0.5-credit courses in English literature or poetry.
The following courses do not satisfy credit requirements for the English teachable:

Applicants are required to demonstrate oral and written fluency, as part of their application. The assessment is typically held in January.
At least 3.0 full credits in geography are required, including:
At least 3.0 full credits in kinesiology, health science or physical education are required, including at least two 0.5-credit courses (or a 1.0 credit equivalent) in fundamental and/or applied movement skills (e.g., sport, games, or movement skills).
At least 3.0 full credits in history are required, including at least 1.0 full credit in Canadian history.
At least 3.0 full credits in mathematics are required, including 1.0 full senior math credit at the second-year level or above.
Statistics courses taken in another subject area other than math (e.g., psychology or sociology) are considered for a maximum of one 0.5 credit towards the teachable requirement.
Mathematics courses equivalent to a high school math credit or remedial courses are not considered for the teachable requirement.
At least 3.0 full credits in music, including both applied and academic music courses.
Grade 10 Royal Conservatory of Music certification satisfies the requirement for applied music.
Courses in second instruments, conducting, facilitation and leadership, music education methods and/or music technology may be used for the music education requirement.
Consideration is given to equivalent field experience and/or related postsecondary education.
At least 3.0 full credits in music, including both applied and academic music courses.
