The Career Development Centre team is your primary resource for meeting your recruitment goals.

Engage with the Laurier Career Centre's comprehensive recruitment services. We will:

• Consult with you to develop an effective campus strategy including how to create a talent pipeline.
• Provide advice on creating impactful job descriptions/postings.
• Recommend ways to build awareness and connections to help students understand who you are and what makes you different.
• Advertise your positions in Navigator, our online career portal for students, alumni and employers.
• Target postings to the audience you are hoping to attract.
• Co-ordinate employer events including recruiting sessions, fairs and display tables.
• Collect the applications and forward them to you after the deadline.
• Schedule interviews at Laurier, at your preferred office location, virtually or by phone.
• Advertise your multi-school recruiting and awareness-building events on our online career portal (Navigator).

Recruiting for Diversity

We are committed to helping you connect with and recruit from a diverse pipeline of candidates. We work closely with our Black, racialized and Indigenous students as well as students with disabilities and students of all sexual identities and gender identities. We collaborate with diverse groups on campus to offer specialized programming and support. We can support you in your efforts to recruit a diverse workforce.

Recruiting International Students

Did you know that Laurier attracts over 1500 international students annually? It is easy to tap into this talent and hire international students for your team. International students and alumni can apply for the following work permit programs. As an employer, all you have to worry about is the hiring process.

• Off-campus work: Typically, international students may work up to 20 hours a week off-campus while completing their studies.
• Post-Graduation Work Permit Program (PGWPP): Employers may hire international students for up to three years after graduation.
• Co-op programs: Students applying for co-op work terms and internships typically require a work permit.
• Permanent residency: There are several government programs to assist international students who are seeking permanent residency.

Ontario Ministry of Labour and the Employment Standards Act

The Ontario Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development determines employment standards, workplace health and safety and labour relations. The Employment Standards Self Service Tool is available on the ministry’s website at Ontario.ca/ESATools. The tool is designed to promote self-reliance amongst workplace parties, making it easier for employers and employees in Ontario to understand and comply with the Employment Standards Act (ESA). It also includes calculations to determine whether the amount paid to an employee meets the minimum standards of the ESA.
